However, market data shows NIGHT is significantly smaller than Zcash, with a market cap of $443 million versus Zcash's $26.2 billion. The two tokens exhibit an 0.87 correlation, moving largely in tandem despite the vast valuation gap. Hoskinson did not define 'bigger,' leaving interpretation open regarding price, users, or activity."

# Hoskinson says Midnight crypto will outgrow Zcash—yet NIGHT still tracks it

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson suggested that Midnight will be bigger than ZCash in future, setting up a comparison against one of privacy’s more renowned networks and putting the newer privacy-focused network under considerable scrutiny.

Following the prediction, NIGHT has seen more attention drawn to it, but the picture in terms of market reality indicates something more complicated. Midnight remains far smaller than Zcash, and the recent price data suggests that the two assets are largely moving in the same direction.

## **Why Hoskinson expects Midnight to grow**

Hoskinson’s prediction came as a reply to a bullish post made by Weiss Crypto, which labeled NIGHT as a worthy investment over the next 24 months.

“Midnight will be bigger than ZCash,” Hoskinson wrote, referring to several features which he thinks will set the network apart.

Selective privacy is the idea behind the Midnight system. Not everything needs to be made public, and not everything must be explicitly kept hidden; the users instead can have control over revealing only specific information.

For instance, a person can tell others that they meet the age requirement without giving away their birth date or any other information.

In addition to that, several additional plans for Midnight were laid out by Charles Hoskinson, which include the support of apps and private software agents across many major blockchains.

The whole focus of the Cardano network was for people and programs to use financial services without feeling the need to reveal their private data that the system does not need.

However, “bigger” remains open to interpretation. Hoskinson did not say whether he was referring to price, market value, user numbers, or activity on the network. Or does he refer to 2027 as a development milestone rather than a firm deadline for overtaking Zcash?

## **NIGHT price approaches its next test**

NIGHT was trading near the **$0.0269** price level at the time of this writing, slightly lower for the day after reaching around the **$0.0279** price level.

It has recovered from the lows of August to now be trading over some of its shorter-term price markers. This means that recovery has had some strength to it, though it is still within its wider down channel.

The nearest major blockade stands in the **$0.028** vicinity. A breakout beyond that mark could see the price challenging the **$0.030** level, followed by a sterner test at **$0.033**. If sellers gain the upper hand, expect first cushion near the **$0.025** price level and another cushion between the **$0.023 and $0.024** price areas.

One particularly interesting detail is NIGHT’s **20-day correlation with Zcash**, which stood at **0.87**. What this means is that the two assets have recently tended to rise and fall together.

However, that does not suggest that Zcash influences NIGHT’s price. Both can merely represent the same increasing attention that privacy-focused cryptos are seeing. This causes a strange dynamic. Midnight acts as the upcoming Zcash competitor, yet its token still trades similarly to Zcash.

The size difference also remains substantial. Recent market snapshots placed Midnight near **$443 million and Zcash around $26.2 billion**. At those valuations, NIGHT would need to grow roughly **59-fold** to match Zcash, and this is assuming Zcash itself stood still.

## **Final Summary**

- NIGHT must clear $0.028 before its recovery can make further progress.
- Hoskinson’s prediction is ambitious, but what ‘bigger’ means is still open to interpretation.
