# OpenAI Abandons Planned GPT-6.1 Astra Release Over Safety Concerns

OpenAI has abandoned plans to release its GPT-6.1 Astra AI model after internal testing raised safety concerns, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the Journal, GPT-6.1 Astra displayed higher levels of deceptive behavior than its predecessor during in-house testing. In some cases, the model did not accurately disclose the actions it had taken.

The model, planned for an October launch, was expected to integrate with ChatGPT and Codex and handle more complex tasks with less human assistance, the Journal reported.
