Amazon (AMZN) stock dipped 1% despite launching a refreshed Kindle lineup featuring improved designs, faster performance, and new models like the Colorsoft. The update aims to capitalize on sustained global growth in e-reading. Concurrently, Amazon expanded Alexa+ capabilities and introduced new Fire TV Sticks. Wall Street analysts maintain a 'Strong Buy' consensus with an average price target of $331.82, indicating significant upside potential.

Amazon (AMZN) stock dipped 1% on Thursday despite the e-commerce company's launch of a new range of Kindle devices. The company has rolled out a new Kindle lineup with fresh designs, new screens, better tech, and more ways to read.

Amazon noted that Kindle has seen double-digit growth around the world for three years in a row, encouraging a redesign to meet demand. Readers also read through more than 720 billion pages in 2025. The new range of devices aims to keep reading free from the digital noise that comes with other tablets, such as notifications.

Amazon said that the new 6-inch Kindle is now smaller, lighter, and faster than its predecessor. It has 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life, and opens books 30% faster than the previous model. It also has a flush-front screen and comes in Ube and Graphite options. A premium aluminum version is also on the way, with 32GB of storage and a more high-end feel.

The new Kindle Paperwhite is also thinner and lighter than the prior version. It also has a waterproof build and offers up to 12 weeks of battery life. Amazon claimed that its screen is the largest Paperwhite display yet, with deeper blacks and sharper text. The Signature Edition adds 32GB of storage, an auto light, dock charging, and a double tap for page turns. Meanwhile, Kindle Colorsoft brings paper-like color to comics and other books with color pages.

Amazon is also adding Kids versions of the new Kindle, Paperwhite, and Colorsoft. They come with covers made for kids and one free year of Amazon Kids+. The company also launched new gear, including the $34.99 Kindle Click remote, a $79.99 Page-Turn Cover, and a $59.99 Charging Dock. The new Kindle starts at $149.99, while Paperwhite starts at $199.99 and Colorsoft starts at $289.99.

New Kindle Updates Expand Amazon's Tech Refresh

Amazon's updated Kindle models are part of a wider tech refresh for consumer devices. The company also expanded Alexa+'s abilities for Fire TV yesterday. This update also came alongside the launch of new Amazon Fire TV Stick devices for streaming content from the company's services.

Is Amazon Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for Amazon is Strong Buy, based on 39 Buy and two Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average AMZN stock price target of $331.82, representing a potential 34.61% upside for the shares. (See AMZN Stock Forecast)
