Robinhood Traders Just Went on Their Biggest Buying Binge Ever

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Robinhood retail traders recorded their highest-ever five-day net purchases of individual stocks, marking a significant buying binge. Key stocks included FICO, SMMT, MDB, and NVTS, with FICO leading activity due to volume surges and dip-buying following regulatory news. This trend highlights retail investors using market weakness to increase exposure, signaling a shift in liquidity dynamics despite the data representing only one platform's users.

Robinhood Markets, Inc‘s (NASDAQ:HOOD) retail crowd is buying the dips at a record pace.

According to the company’s EntryPoint newsletter, retail traders on the platform made their highest-ever five-day net purchases of individual stocks.

The trend marks a turnaround from last Wednesday’s and Monday’s declines. Neither session individually surpassed the platform’s June 12 record, when Space Exploration Technologies Corp‘s (NASDAQ:SPCX) IPO drove the highest single-day level of net purchases.

But taken together, the latest five-day stretch produced the largest weekly buying binge in the data.

And the buying was not concentrated in one obvious retail favorite. The most heavily purchased names included Fair Isaac Corp (NYSE:FICO), Summit Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:SMMT), MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) and Navitas Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:NVTS).

FICO Led the Buying

Fair Isaac was the standout by trading activity. Its volume was more than 14 times its 30-day average, while its one-day buy-to-sell ratio reached 1.56, according to EntryPoint data.

The move came as FICO suffered its biggest-ever decline after Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte said the agency would move forward with a single pricing grid incorporating VantageScore alongside FICO for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Summit Therapeutics also saw a sharp increase in activity, with volume 783% above its 30-day average and a one-day buy-to-sell ratio of 1.48. MongoDB and Navitas Semiconductor recorded volume increases of 576% and 313%, respectively.

The common thread was not necessarily the underlying business story. It was stocks experiencing significant moves and attracting buyers into the weakness.

What Retail Is Signaling

The record five-day figure offers a useful window into how one segment of the market is responding to volatility. Rather than broadly pulling back after selloffs, Robinhood traders have been using weakness to increase exposure to individual stocks.

That does not establish where the broader market goes next. Retail flows can change quickly, and the data represents activity from Robinhood traders rather than the entire U.S. investor base.

For investors, however, the shift is worth watching because retail has become an increasingly visible source of market liquidity. The next question is whether this record buying binge persists — and whether the stocks attracting those flows can hold onto their gains once the initial dip-buying wave fades.
