Posting on X, Tesla shared the message “Halloween is coming” alongside a video featuring a pumpkin, a car dressed like a ghost, and an Optimus arm reaching out of the ground like a zombie. The clip hints at Halloween-themed visuals, although Tesla has not announced a release date, supported vehicles, or whether the changes will extend beyond the touchscreen. Rivian offers a good example of what a more extensive update could include. The company has made Halloween software a recurring tradition, adding seasonal touches to its screens, sounds, and lighting. In 2024, Rivian introduced three parked “Car Costumes” – Knight Rider, Back to the Future, and Haunted Rivian. These combined themed displays with music and sound effects, while compatible second-generation vehicles added exterior lightbar effects. The Haunted Rivian option included ghosts, screen static, eight sound effects, and selectable colour themes. The changes also followed owners onto the road. Pedestrians became zombies on the driver display, while cyclists and motorcyclists appeared as headless horsemen. Owners could also explore an interactive swamp scene on the centre display and select a frog sound for the vehicle’s lock chirp. For Tesla, themed lock sounds, Halloween lighting effects, and changes to how nearby vehicles or people appear on screen are likely to be included in this update.
