# "Offloading" 11 SKIES Boosts Appeal? Bloomberg: Bain Capital Considers Investing in NEW WORLD DEV

NEW WORLD DEV (0017), which has just "offloaded" its 11 SKIES project, may attract foreign equity investment. Citing informed sources, Bloomberg reported that the renowned US private equity firm Bain Capital is considering a potential investment in NEW WORLD DEV.

The report pointed out that the private equity firm has been studying a potential deal, which could also involve new capital injection from the Cheng family, the controlling shareholder of NEW WORLD DEV. According to the sources, discussions are still ongoing, and it remains uncertain whether Bain will decide to proceed with the transaction.

A representative for Bain declined to comment. Spokespersons for both NEW WORLD DEV and the Cheng family did not respond to requests for comment.

NEW WORLD DEV is seeking ways to repay its heavy debt burden. Its latest earnings announcement revealed that its total debt amounted to approximately HK$143 billion (US$18 billion) as of the end of June. A portion of this debt is due in 2028.

Shares of NEW WORLD DEV experienced significant volatility, rising by 11% in early trading before reversing course to drop by about 5%, and are currently down 2.2%.
