Is Set to Leave Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 Indexes after $81 Billion Paramount Buyout Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is set to leave both the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 main indexes next week. The entertainment giant is finishing an $81 billion buyout merger with Paramount Skydance (PSKY). Both companies announced that they expect the transaction to close officially on October 6. The deal brings an end to nearly a year of intense bidding and legal reviews across the media landscape. Following the transaction, Paramount Skydance will list its combined business on the New York Stock Exchange (ICE). ## **Moderna Is Joining the Nasdaq 100 following a Strong Stock Rally** Drug maker Moderna (MRNA) will take Warner Bros.' spot in the Nasdaq 100 before market trading opens on October 9. Moderna stock gained 1.6% in pre-market trading after the index update. MRNA stock has jumped 541% year to date through Thursday's close. Much of that stock price growth came after a single trading day in August where shares more than doubled. That sudden jump followed positive Phase 3 trial results for intismeran autogene, an experimental cancer vaccine developed in partnership with Merck. Joining the Nasdaq 100 reflects Moderna's rising market value and expansion into personalized medicine. ## **Twilio Is Replacing Warner Bros. in S&P 500** Cloud platform Twilio (TWLO) will join the flagship S&P 500 before market trading opens on October 6. Twilio moves up from the S&P MidCap 400 index, where it has been listed since August 2025. Twilio stock rose 1.5% in early pre-market action following the index announcement. Stock prices often get a boost when added to a major stock index. Huge index funds that copy the S&P 500 must hold every stock on the list in exact proportions. When a new company gets added, these funds automatically buy up shares so their portfolios match the updated index list. ## **Is Paramount Stock a Good Buy Right Now?** Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on PSKY stock based on three Buys, five Holds and four Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. The average PSKY price target of $10.36 per share implies 10.42% upside potential.
