Broadcom Chases NVIDIA With $60 Billion Financing Plan for AI Customers

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Broadcom is collaborating with banks and Blackstone to structure a $60 billion financing plan aimed at supporting AI chip demand, particularly for customers like Anthropic. The package includes a $42 billion senior-secured tranche and an $18 billion junior-debt tranche. This move helps expand the AI infrastructure market as companies increasingly rely on debt and private capital beyond corporate cash flow to fund massive capital expenditures, allowing Broadcom to compete more effectively with NVIDIA in the data-center hardware sector.

Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is turning to Wall Street to help expand the AI infrastructure market, as chipmakers and hyperscalers increasingly use debt, private capital and asset-backed structures to finance a buildout that corporate cash flow alone may no longer cover.

Broadcom’s banking syndicate is preparing roughly $60 billion in new AI financing that could help companies including Anthropic PBC acquire chips and other computing infrastructure while supporting demand for Broadcom’s data-center products.

Broadcom Links Financing With AI Chip Demand

Banks involved in the potential package are preparing to syndicate a $42 billion Class A senior-secured tranche, Bloomberg reported on Friday.

Blackstone Inc. is leading another $18 billion Class B junior-debt tranche, committing $9 billion through its funds and planning to syndicate the remainder.

The structure could give Anthropic and other AI companies access to additional computing capacity while Broadcom seeks to sell more chips and data-center equipment and compete with NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA).

The report said that Broadcom declined to comment on the potential financing.

AI Buildout Pushes Beyond Corporate Cash Flow

The financing comes as AI investment increasingly moves deeper into credit markets.

UBP estimates Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT), Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) and Oracle Corp. (NYSE:ORCL) will spend roughly $820 billion on capital expenditures in 2026, versus about $750 billion in operating cash flow.

It projects capex could reach $1 trillion-$1.3 trillion in 2027, leaving a funding gap that operating earnings alone cannot cover.

Companies are consequently expanding beyond conventional bonds into project finance, securitization, leveraged loans and chip-backed financing.

Amazon, for example, has reportedly explored transferring about $8 billion of NVIDIA chips into a special-purpose vehicle that could raise debt and lease the processors back to Amazon.

Meta is preparing to enter Europe’s bond market, while NVIDIA has worked with major financial firms to mobilize more than $500 billion for AI infrastructure and has explored insurance structures that could reduce lender risk on chip-backed loans.

Credit Markets Take on More AI Risk

The shift is also raising concerns about leverage and off-balance-sheet exposure.

Investor Steve Eisman has criticized the growing use of special-purpose vehicles and guarantees, warning that soaring infrastructure costs give companies an incentive to move financing away from their balance sheets.

The broader trend leaves AI financing tied increasingly to the value of chips, data centers and future cash flows.

For Broadcom, that expanding capital network could help customers fund infrastructure purchases while widening the addressable market for its AI hardware.

AVGO Price Action: Broadcom shares were up 1.08% at $347.35 during premarket trading on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
