# Surrozen Initiated with Buy as IND Clearance, New Capital and External Wnt Validation Strengthen Clinical Momentum

William Blair analyst Lachlan Hanbury Brown has maintained their bullish stance on SRZN stock, giving a Buy rating on September 26.

Lachlan Hanbury Brown has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors related to Surrozen’s strengthening fundamentals and clinical momentum. The recent clearance of the IND for SZN-8141 enables the company to initiate its DUET Phase Ib/IIa trial in diabetic macular edema by year-end, marking a key inflection point as the program transitions from preclinical to human studies.

This regulatory milestone also triggers a second PIPE closing that brings in roughly $95 million in new capital, materially reinforcing Surrozen’s balance sheet and funding development of both SZN-8141 and SZN-8143. In addition, encouraging Phase III results from Merck’s Wnt agonist in DME provide external validation of the Wnt pathway in retinal vascular disease, supporting the therapeutic rationale behind Surrozen’s pipeline and underpinning Brown’s constructive view on the stock’s risk-reward profile.

Hanbury Brown covers the Healthcare sector, focusing on stocks such as Ocular Therapeutix, Harrow Health, and Surrozen. According to TipRanks, Hanbury Brown has an average return of -6.2% and a 39.09% success rate on recommended stocks.

In another report released on September 26, LifeSci Capital also assigned a Buy rating to the stock with a $54.00 price target.
