# Paramount's $110 Billion Warner Bros. Deal Just Cleared Its Final Strategic Hurdle

Following its $110 billion merger with Warner Bros., David Ellison's media company, Paramount Skydance Corp. (PSKY, Financials), is preparing to take on the Skydance name. Discovery is drawing nearer to its goal.

The combined company will have a single corporate identity, but the names of the Warner Bros. and Paramount studios will not change. For investors, though, the name is the most straightforward part of the deal.

The merger is expected to be finalized next week, according to the newspaper, after a federal court approved a settlement in an antitrust case launched by twelve state attorneys general.

Integration will shortly be the focus when the deal closes. While assembling a substantial collection of film, television, and streaming assets, Skydance will need to maintain the value of two well-known entertainment enterprises.

The combined scale may provide greater technology opportunities and a broader global reach, but it also occurs at a time when traditional television is constantly being attacked and streaming is still a very competitive sector.

Execution is therefore more crucial. A $110 billion merger will ultimately be assessed by investors based on whether the scale leads to better economics rather than just a larger media company.

The next trigger will be the expected Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition close next week, which will be followed by details about management's plans to merge the two businesses.
