# AI Startup DeepSeek Plans 2027 IPO as Tencent and CATL Put $12 Billion into the Chinese AI Firm

Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek is closing in on 80 billion yuan ($12 billion) in new funding, according to a *Bloomberg* exclusive report. This new investment comes as the company prepares to list its shares on the public market in early 2027. DeepSeek originally set out to raise 50 billion yuan, but big institutional investors rushed to put in more money after the startup released its V4 Flash AI model.

## **DeeSeek Will Mark China's Biggest Stock Debut in Years**

Battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) (CTATF) and WeChat parent firm Tencent Holdings (TCEHY) pledged top amounts in this funding round. DeepSeek first planned to raise 50 billion yuan, but investor demand grew fast. Signed paper deals show final funding could reach 100 billion yuan before the round ends.

This growing capital push sets up DeepSeek for one of China's biggest stock debuts in years. Founder Liang Wenfeng built a strong name after releasing low-cost AI models that match top U.S. firms. His models match tools from Anthropic and OpenAI while running at a tiny fraction of their operational costs.

## **DeepSeek Will Use the Capital to Advance its AI Ambitions**

DeepSeek will use the capital to build out big computer hardware systems. The firm plans to run at least 160,000 top AI chips from Huawei Technologies Co. inside a new data center in Inner Mongolia. This project will build one of the largest known computer groups running on Huawei hardware.

DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng told investors he wants to keep making open AI models while aiming for general AI tools. The company released custom code built with Huawei to help run these chips. Meanwhile, rival startup Moonshot AI is also targeting an early 2027 stock launch after closing a funding round that valued the firm at $50 billion.

## **DeepSeek Will Work Directly with Tencent and Contemporary Amperex Technology**

China views DeepSeek as a primary leader in its national race to build top-tier artificial intelligence technology. After this current funding deal closes, DeepSeek plans to streamline its legal and corporate framework to prepare for its stock market debut in early 2027.

Tencent previously invested 10 billion yuan into DeepSeek during an earlier funding round. Tencent plans to build DeepSeek's AI models directly into WeChat and its other popular apps to improve user search and digital tools.

Battery giant CATL invested in DeepSeek to secure a new business path. Beyond making electric car batteries, CATL wants to supply power components and cooling parts to high-demand computer data centers as AI computing grows.

DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng originally launched the AI lab as an offshoot of his hedge fund, High-Flyer, which provided the early seed money to start the project. Following these major funding rounds, Liang's personal net worth doubled to approximately $36 billion, making him one of the wealthiest founders in the global AI industry.

Turning to TipRanks, Wall Street analysts see strong upside for both key backers. Tencent (TCEHY) trades near $54.84 with a Moderate Buy consensus and a $106.00 price target, pointing to a 93.29% upside. Battery giant CATL (CTATF) trades near $61.57 with a Strong Buy rating, a top 10 Smart Score, and a $99.22 target that offers a 61.17% upside.
