# QuantumScape Stock (QS) Jumped 10% in After Hours — What Fueled the Rally?

QuantumScape (QS) stock jumped about 10% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after the solid-state battery maker reported a smaller-than-expected loss for the third quarter. Its loss came in at $0.14 per share, beating estimates of $0.17. The company also outlined plans for a new battery production line aimed at AI data centers.

## **QuantumScape Beats Q3 Earnings Estimates**

QuantumScape reported a GAAP net loss of $84.5 million, or $0.14 per share, for the third quarter. That was better than the expected loss of $0.17 per share and narrower than the $0.18 loss a year earlier. GAAP operating expenses totaled $92.4 million.

Customer billings reached $9.8 million, including the company's first billings under its Honda (HMC) agreement. It also recorded initial billings from its advanced solutions business, which serves defense and aerospace customers.

QuantumScape ended the quarter with $819.8 million in liquidity. It kept its 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss outlook at $250 million to $275 million. Full-year capital spending is expected to range from $27 million to $37 million.

## **QuantumScape Plans Battery Line for AI Data Centers**

QuantumScape plans to build a 100-MWh battery production line with Germany's Muehlbauer Group, which will supply cell-assembly equipment. Production is targeted to start in 2028, with the line aimed at AI data centers and other advanced markets rather than carmakers.

The project builds on the company's Eagle Line pilot facility in San Jose, which is producing cells for customer samples. Equipment costs for the new line are expected to stay below $100 million. QuantumScape is seeking funding that would avoid issuing more shares.

The company is also targeting AI data centers with its QS PowerBlock energy storage system. The system uses its QSE-5 solid-state cells and is designed to fit inside data center racks.

By targeting AI data centers, QuantumScape aims to expand beyond EV batteries and tap into demand for energy storage in computing infrastructure.

## **Is QS Stock a Good Buy?**

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on QuantumScape stock, based on three Hold ratings in the past three months. The average QS price target is $6.83, implying 71.69% upside from current levels. (See QS Stock Forecast).
