# KOSPI Crosses 6,000 as Kioxia Soars Nearly 14%, SK Hynix Jumps 11%, Samsung Rallies Over 9%

TradingKey - KOSPI surges 6.63% to break 6,000 points, SK Hynix jumps 11%, Kioxia soars nearly 14%, while Samsung and SoftBank join the rally.

During the Asian trading session on October 28, Japanese and South Korean stock markets extended yesterday's strong rebound. Sparked by explosive positive news from SK Hynix's record Q3 earnings report and its 100 trillion KRW shareholder return plan, the semiconductor sector staged an extreme rally once again.

The KOSPI surged 6.63% at the close, strongly breaking through the 6,000 mark to settle at 6,012.44 points, marking its highest closing level in nearly two weeks. Industry leader Samsung Electronics closed up 9.12%, topping the 240,000 mark to finish at 242,500 KRW; SK Hynix surged 11.41% at the close, approaching the 1.5 million mark to end at 1,494,000 KRW.

The Nikkei 225 index extended its gains, closing up 1.08% at 63,954.14 points. A significant divergence in gains remained between two major heavyweight stocks: Kioxia surged 13.76% to close at 14,340 JPY, while SoftBank rose 4.65% to close at 4,682 JPY.

Later today, Alphabet (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT) will release their latest quarterly results, with the market closely observing whether the giants' massive AI capital expenditure can continue to translate into cloud revenue growth, the outcome of which will directly affect the momentum of Asian chip stocks tomorrow.

In addition, the Federal Reserve will announce its latest interest rate decision. Powell's stance on the subsequent rate-cut path and the direction of US Treasury yields will dictate the pace of global capital flows into emerging markets and high-beta tech stocks.
