Grayscale has expanded its in-kind subscription service to 10 digital asset investment products, including Bitcoin, XRP, Dogecoin, and Solana ETFs. This allows eligible investors to exchange crypto holdings directly for fund shares without converting to cash, aiming to reduce custody risks and transaction costs. Access is limited to primary-market subscribers via Authorized Participants.

Grayscale announced Wednesday that eligible investors can directly contribute cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) and Solana (CRYPTO: SOL), in exchange for shares of select investment products.

Grayscale Expands In-Kind Investing

The asset manager is expanding in-kind subscriptions across 10 digital asset investment products, allowing eligible investors to exchange existing crypto holdings for fund shares without first converting their tokens into cash.

It reduces self-custody risks and potentially lowering transaction costs.

The eligible products as of Oct. 20, include Solana Staking ETF (GSOL), Dogecoin Trust ETF (GDOG), Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH), XRP Trust ETF (GXRP), Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC) and many others.

"As digital assets mature, investors are seeking more secure and efficient ways to manage their crypto holdings," said Steve Vanourny, Grayscale’s Head of Index.

He highlighted growing cybersecurity threats and the benefits of institutional custody.

Investors may also hold shares through brokerage or retirement accounts, potentially use them as collateral for loans and access listed options for hedging or income strategies.

Access Remains Limited To Eligible Investors

Grayscale expects demand for in-kind investing to grow as investors seek more sophisticated ways to manage cryptocurrency exposure.

Investors must work through an Authorized Participant or an intermediary connected to one to access primary-market subscriptions.

Transactions remain subject to product availability, applicable fees and eligibility requirements.

The company advised investors to consult financial, legal and tax professionals before participating.
