Indonesia to invest $22 billion in agricultural processing, minister says

SAO PAULO, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Brazil’s sugar production in the 2025-2026 season is expected to rise 3.1% versus the previous season to 41.42 million metric tons, Plinio Nastari, president of Agribusiness consultancy Datagro, said on Tuesday.The increase is expected despite a slight drop in sugarcane processing because the percentage of cane being directed to producing sugar over ethanol is expected to hit 52.1%, up from 48.1% in the previous season.

A woman was hospitalized after her right hand got trapped in a sugar cane machine in Clementi, Singapore, on the evening of October 10. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident at Block 448 Clementi Avenue 3 around 6:50 PM. Firefighters and rescue specialists freed her hand, and she was taken to National University Hospital for treatment of injuries to three fingers. An emergency medical team from Ng Teng Fong General Hospital provided on-site support during the rescue operation.
