How Much Do You Need to Have Netflix, Disney and the 8 Major Streaming Platforms?

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Consumers face rising costs for the eight major streaming platforms, with total monthly fees increasing 4.8% with ads and 12.5% without ads since March. Disney, Netflix, Apple, Peacock, and Paramount have all raised prices recently. The total cost for ad-supported plans is $86.92, while ad-free plans total $144.41. Consumers must choose between paying more, bundling services, or cutting subscriptions to manage these escalating expenses.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) became the latest streaming company to raise its monthly costs for consumers this month. With Disney’s new prices, here’s how much consumers pay to subscribe to the eight main streaming platforms, with and without ads.

How Much Consumers Pay for Streaming

Since Benzinga last calculated the costs to subscribe to eight monthly streaming platforms, several have raised their prices.

The costs of the eight with ads have gone up 4.8% since March, while the costs without ads have risen 12.5% overall since March.

Here are the monthly subscription costs. The prices do not take into account any bundling or paying for an annual membership, which are ways consumers can save money:

  • Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX): $8.99
  • Disney-owned Hulu: $12.49
  • Warner Bros. Discovery‘s (NASDAQ:WBD) HBO Max: $10.99
  • Paramount Skydance‘s (NASDAQ:PSKY) Paramount+: $8.99
  • Disney+: $12.49
  • Comcast‘s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Peacock: $8.99
  • Apple Inc‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) AppleTV: $14.99 (no ad-free plan offered)
  • Amazon.com‘s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Prime Video: $8.99

The total cost for the eight streaming platforms with ads is $86.92 per month.

Here are the costs for the eight platforms without ads monthly:

  • Netflix: $19.99
  • Hulu: $21.49
  • HBO Max: $18.49
  • Paramount+: $13.99
  • Disney+: $21.49
  • Peacock: $19.99
  • AppleTV: $14.99
  • Prime Video: $13.98

The total cost for the eight platforms without ads is $144.41 monthly.

Paying $86.92 to $144.41 monthly for eight streaming platforms is likely a cost that many consumers would like to see be lower. The prices continue to rise every year.

Keep in mind this is only eight platforms and doesn’t cover options like YouTubeTV, ESPN and some sports packages needed to be able to watch all games of the major sports leagues.

Rising Streaming Costs

Disney may be one of the companies raising prices most often. The company has now raised its streaming costs four times in four years. The cost of the ad-free Disney+ plan has nearly doubled from its $10.99 per month cost in 2022.

Netflix raised prices earlier this year and has one of the biggest price gaps between the ad-free and ad-supported plans.

Peacock and Paramount also raised prices earlier this year.

Technology giant Apple raised its price in August, marking a fourth price increase in four years. Apple TV still holds the option to launch an ad-supported tier in the future.

For consumers facing rising prices, the choices are to pay more, buy bundles that offer savings, or cut platforms to keep prices the same as last year.
