Ethereum builder and investor Ryan Berckmans said on X that the idea Robinhood gives little back to ETH is nonsense. According to ChainCatcher, he said Robinhood pays on-chain users and new ETH holders, runs marketing to attract new enterprise customers, supports mature L1 hubs and L2 expansion, and creates healthy competition for Base. Berckmans said Ethereum alignment is a real concept, but not in the way critics frame it as maximizing revenue and fees. He said helping Ethereum and ETH grow is aligned, while threatening Ethereum or ETH is anti-aligned, citing Lido during its dominant period as an example. He added that Robinhood is one of the most Ethereum-aligned entities globally. He said buying large amounts of ETH or not selling order-flow fees would be better, but only as an incremental benefit. Berckmans added that the next wave of ETH buyers will include Wall Street, corporate, government, family office, and sovereign wealth buyers, and said ETH could reach trillions of dollars in value as Ethereum becomes globally adopted. He said the two key measures of value-store progress are L1 application capital and the number of sufficiently successful L2s, and that Robinhood helps grow the latter.
