Ringgit’s outperformance set to extend next year on AI boost
The Malaysian ringgit is expected to continue outperforming its Asian peers into 2026, driven by strong tech exports, rising AI demand, and increased foreign direct investment, particularly in data centers. Strategists from Bank of Singapore, MUFG Bank, and Goldman Sachs forecast the ringgit to strengthen, with predictions ranging from 3.95 to 4.00 per US dollar by the end of next year. The ringgit has already appreciated over 9% against the US dollar this year, making it Asia’s best-performing currency.
