After the supply disruption from Qatar, Indian LNG buyers are seeking alternatives
Indian liquefied natural gas (LNG) buyers are weighing plans to offset supplies from Qatar. This Middle Eastern exporter was forced to shut down production facilities after experiencing drone attacks from Iran. According to insiders, Petronet LNG Ltd. and Gail India Ltd., which have LNG procurement contracts with Qatar, are considering issuing tenders to procure cargoes. They stated that the government has informed buyers that it may seek to obtain supplies through intergovernmental transactions. According to vessel tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, Qatar is India's largest LNG supplier, accounting for nearly half of the South Asian country's imports last year. (Bloomberg)
