Why Is MARA Stock Surging Friday?

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

MARA Holdings stock surged on Friday, rising 5.56% to $11.77 in premarket trading, driven by Bitcoin reclaiming the $77,000 level and positive sentiment following a White House crypto summit. As a major Bitcoin holder, MARA acts as a proxy for crypto prices. Technically, the stock trades above its 20-day and 200-day SMAs but faces resistance near the 50-day SMA at $12.09. Key support is identified at $10, while $13.50 serves as nearby resistance.

MARA Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MARA) stock is moving higher on Friday, continuing the upward momentum seen in Thursday’s session, when the stock climbed on the back of a broader cryptocurrency market rally. Nasdaq futures are up 0.57% while S&P 500 futures have gained 0.31%.

Bitcoin Rally And Macro Support Fuel Momentum

Thursday’s advance was tied to Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) moving back above $77,000, following renewed sector sentiment after a White House crypto summit hosted by President Donald Trump on Wednesday. MARA holds roughly 35,577 BTC, making its stock a proxy for spot Bitcoin price movement.

MARA Stock: Key Levels and Trends to Watch

From a trend perspective, MARA is trading 11.5% above its 20-day SMA ($10.54) and 5.5% above its 200-day SMA ($11.13), which suggests the near-term bounce is still intact and the longer-term trend line is acting like a floor.

At the same time, it’s trading 2.9% below the 50-day SMA ($12.09) and 2% below the 100-day SMA ($11.99), so the next test is whether price can push back through that overhead “supply” zone.

RSI is the cleaner momentum read right now: at 52.54, it’s neutral, meaning the stock isn’t stretched enough to scream overbought or oversold and can still swing either way depending on follow-through.

The crossover picture is mixed: the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA (a bearish short-term alignment), but the 50-day SMA is above the 200-day SMA (a golden cross) that occurred in June.

Key levels are straightforward: bulls generally want to see the stock build acceptance back above the 50-day/100-day area, while bears will watch whether the recent rebound loses traction and slips back toward round-number support.

  • Key Resistance: $13.50 — a nearby round-number/pivot area where rebounds can stall
  • Key Support: $10 — a round-number level that can act as a line-in-the-sand if the bounce fades

MARA Stock Price Activity: MARA Holdings shares were up 5.56% at $11.77 during premarket trading on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
