BREAKING: The EPA said it would eliminate its scientific research arm and begin firing hundreds of scientists, after previously denying any such plans, per NYT.

This is deeply concerning. Gutting the EPA’s research division especially after denying it undermines both public trust and the agency’s ability to make evidence-based decisions.

Regardless of political stance, removing scientists from one of the nation’s key environmental watchdogs weakens our ability to respond to climate change, pollution, and public health threats.

It feels like a step backward at a time when data and science should be front and center.
