
Taiwan has warned citizens to beware of DeepSeek and other China generative AI language models due to misinformation and potential security threats, media report. The National Security Bureau inspected popular AI apps, DeepSeek, Doubao, Yiyan, Tonyi and Yuanbao, finding a range of security issues, including onerous privacy terms and data collection; and misinformation including no mention of Taiwan’s president nor Beijing’s 1989 Tiananmen slaughter of China college students, and full support by the apps for Beijing’s official state line on political issues, including that Taiwan is part of China.
