Tesla has delayed AI6 chip production for unknown reasons, causing Samsung to put off the ramp up of 2nm manufacturing at its Taylor, Texas fab, media report, noting Tesla canceled a run of test chips (MPW: multi-project-wafer), which now faces a 6-month delay. The AI6 was to be made on Samsung’s 2nm process under a 16,000 wafers-per-month (wpm, starts) contract, while discussions on additional capacity would put the figure at 24,000wpm. The delay was revealed by AI chip designer DeepX, which was to have test chips made on the same MPW. DeepX is Samsung’s first 2nm chip client. $Tesla(TSLA.US) $SSNLF #Samsung #DeepX
