
Micron’s purchase of Powerchip’s Tongluo fab campus has improved Powerchip’s financial health and helped it join the HBM memory supply chain, media report, citing President Martin Chu, who said the deal was finalized in March. Employees at Tongluo will be relocated back to Hsinchu. Micron paid Powerchip US$1.36 billion in March for the Tongluo deal, and the final $440 million will be paid by the end of 2027. Powerchip will pay down NT$44 billion in debt with the proceeds, reducing its total bank debt to NT$26.7 billion by end-2026, from NT$70 billion now.
