Taiwan optical lens giant Largan Precision will soon send samples of Fiber Array Units (FAU) to clients, its first Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) product, media report, citing Chairman E.P. Lin on the 4/16 Q1 call. He believes Largan’s optical expertise will help with key issues like fiber-to-chip alignment. It will take 1-2 years to build capacity, so 2027-2028 is the earliest for mass production. Largan has designed its own equipment for FAU production due to its specs. They will also produce prisms and plastic components needed for the whole FAU module.
