# AMD Into Advancing AI: The Setup Nobody Is Talking About

Okay so here is the deal. AMD is down about 17% from its peak heading into the single most important event of its year, and I think people are sleeping on this.

### What actually drops on July 22

The Advancing AI event runs July 22 to 23 at Moscone in San Francisco. This is where AMD officially ships Zen 6 Venice, its fastest server CPU ever at 1.7x the previous generation, and the first high performance chip built on TSMC's 2nm N2P node. That is a real process lead moment. On top of that we get the MI400 and MI455X accelerator roadmap, which is the part that actually competes with Nvidia's Vera Rubin.

### The analyst setup

The targets have been marching up. KeyBanc sits at USD 725, TD Cowen USD 675, BofA USD 620, and the average has climbed to around USD 541. When a stock is down 17% into a catalyst while targets are going up, that gap is where the opportunity lives.

### My take

Events like this are binary. If the MI400 demand commentary and customer wins land strong, this thing runs. If Lisa Su gives soft guidance or the roadmap slips, it sells off on the news no matter how good the chips look. I am positioned small and long into it, and I would rather be early than chase the pop. Manage your risk, this is a trade with a known date and a known reaction window.
