# ☕️ [Task Coins Giveaway] Daily Market Talk — Apple's Foldable iPhone Launches Tonight, Supply Already Short

Apple's foldable iPhone launches tonight (1am SGT) in what Morgan Stanley calls its most consequential event since the iPhone X — but production is reportedly stuck at just hundreds of units a day. Separately, Qualcomm locked in a $60B AI chip deal with Amazon. Let's dig in 👇

**💬 A foldable iPhone priced above $2,000, shipping at just a few hundred units a day — can Apple's most ambitious launch in years survive its own supply chain?**

## 📊 Quick Recap — What Moved & Why

### 🇺🇸 US — Apple's Foldable iPhone Launches Tonight, Supply Already Short

**🔑 Key Event:** $Apple(AAPL.US) holds its iPhone event tonight (1am SGT) — the first major launch under **new CEO John Ternus** — expected to **unveil a foldable iPhone priced above $2,000**. But daily output is reportedly just a few hundred units, far short of an 8-10M target, as Apple locks in a multi-year NAND deal with Kioxia.

> @Dacai : While the Apple ecosystem has a strong moat and its services income remains robust, there are some concerns that higher component costs leading to higher prices will dampen sale numbers of the new models.

**👀 Other to Watch**

- $Qualcomm(QCOM.US) → **+3.17%** after locking in a deal worth up to $60B with Amazon for **custom AI inference chips** through 2036, with Amazon getting warrants on up to 25M Qualcomm shares.
- $Corning(GLW.US) → **+7.56%** on a multi-year fiber supply deal with Verizon running through 2032.
- $Intel(INTC.US) → **+9.05%**, leading chip-sector gains as its October price-hike plan continues to develop.
- $SpaceX(SPCX.US) → **+3.73%**, pushing its market cap back above $2 trillion for the first time since early July.
- $Meta Platforms(META.US) → launched **Muse**, a personal AI agent that can book appointments and handle errands, with free and paid tiers up to $100/month.

### 🇸🇬 Singapore — STI Falls Further

**🔑 Key Event:** $FTSE Straits Times Index(STI.SG) closed at 5,767.45 Tuesday, then extended its slide this morning — down **-0.65%** to around 5,730 as of publish time (~11am SGT).

**👀 Other to Watch**

- The three local banks fell in step: $DBS(D05.SG) **-0.86%** to S$77.43, $OCBC Bank(O39.SG) **-1.20%** to S$31.32, $UOB(U11.SG) **-1.23%** to S$41.09.
- SG REITs remain the sector most exposed to today's story: the 10-year Treasury yield's climb toward 5% raises borrowing costs and pressures valuations for rate-sensitive names.

> @TheInvestingIguana : If you own REITs, your real benchmark was never the S&P 500 — it's the government bond yield. When the safe alternative gets more competitive, the hurdle for everything else rises with it, even if nothing about the company's fundamentals has changed.

### 🇭🇰 HK/China — Lenovo Rebounds After Tuesday's Crash

**🔑 Key Event:** $LENOVO GROUP(00992.HK) rebounded about **+2%** this morning, clawing back part of Tuesday's convertible-bond-driven crash.

**👀 Other to Watch**

- $LONGSYS(09976.HK) → fell below its HK$236 IPO price on its trading debut, confirming Monday's weak grey-market signal.
- $XIAOMI-W(01810.HK) → **-1.78%** today, extending its slide as **Huawei, Xiaomi and Apple all launch foldable phones this same week** (Sept 7-10); Xiaomi's "18 Fold," launched Monday, is reported to outspec Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8.

### 🌍 Other

- 🇾🇪 Houthi forces struck Saudi Aramco facilities and a Saudi air base, wounding 73; the US said it destroyed 5 Iranian oil tankers. Brent rose to $98.61, and Goldman raised its Brent/WTI forecasts by $5. Copper hit a fresh record of $14,673/ton.
- 🇨🇦 Trump signed orders banning Canadian alcohol, dairy and motorcycles, layering onto Canada's own C$27.6B retaliatory tariffs already in effect.
- 🇯🇵 The Bank of Japan is reportedly considering raising rates to ~1.25% at its Sept 17-18 meeting, which would be its highest in about 31 years.
