# AI Giants Call for a Slowdown—Which Sector Might Benefit?

### What happened

On 12 September, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay asking the AI industry to slow down how fast models get more powerful.

His main proposal is to let independent evaluators work inside the frontier labs with the same access employees get, so that someone outside the company can check what is being built. Anthropic has already agreed to open itself up this way.

OpenAI's Sam Altman then said he agrees the industry needs to "pace the frontier," and committed OpenAI to doing the same. Elon Musk, whose xAI is competing in the same race, replied: "Dario is right."

**Three CEOs who compete with each other, and have sued each other, said the same thing in the same week. 🚦**

### Why it matters

It is still only talk, and the problem is obvious: every lab wants to slow down, and every lab is worried the others won't.

But it is worth asking what happens if they do. The instinct is to read this as bad news for AI stocks, and that is probably too simple. **Nobody is asking for less AI.** The proposal caps how fast the biggest training runs grow, and adds a lot more checking on top: testing, monitoring, audit trails, access control.

**Training a model is a one-time cost. Supervising it is a cost that repeats every month.**

### Who is at stake

That points straight at cybersecurity. Here are five companies 👇

1. $CrowdStrike(CRWD.US) runs a cloud platform that uses a single lightweight agent and AI to detect and block threats across endpoints, cloud workloads, identity and data. Its budget grows in both outcomes, because a faster industry creates more threats and a slower one creates more rules.
2. $Palo Alto Networks(PANW.US) is the global platform leader, with AI-driven products covering network security, cloud security and security operations. It has been shifting from protecting the network around AI to protecting the models themselves, which is exactly what gets examined if outside evaluation becomes standard.
3. $Zscaler(ZS.US) provides secure access between users, devices and applications, replacing traditional VPNs and gateway hardware. When AI agents start making those connections instead of people, the number of requests that need checking rises sharply.
4. $Okta(OKTA.US) runs an identity platform that makes sure the right person or device, under the right conditions, reaches the right resource. That job gets much bigger once an agent can move money and change settings on its own.
5. $SentinelOne(S.US) offers AI-driven autonomous endpoint protection (EPP) and detection and response (EDR), protecting servers and laptops from malware and advanced intrusions. It is the smallest name here, so it tends to move the most in both directions.

None of this is a bet on AI stopping. **It is a bet that proving a system is safe turns into a line in the budget.**

**Do the labs actually slow down, or does competition win and everyone keeps sprinting? And if the checking becomes mandatory, who do you think gets paid for it?**

We're reading every one — and we're paying **288 Task Coins** for a good answer.

- **Vt3 · 2026-09-14T12:30:03.000Z**: 1. This means fewer model launches due to NEW Safety Focused Development.2. Multiple cycles from training, evaluate, detect risks, roll back, retrain, alignment RL, Monitor then Release, so therefore MORE compute, networking and power will be consumed.3. Security stocks such as $CrowdStrike(CRWD.US)
- **Fattycat · 2026-09-14T10:57:39.000Z**: I totally agreed with the independent check. It is a must. Make sure there is not bugs that causes human extinction, create havoc or threats to human kind😆.
