Context: What I find interesting about gold today is that the macro picture is pulling it in opposite directions. Higher rates and bond yields are clear headwinds, yet inflation remains elevated, geopolitical uncertainty persists and central banks continue to view gold as an increasingly important reserve asset. My trade: That is why I don’t view GLD simply as a proxy to falling interest rates. I hold it as a macro counterweight — something that can respond to risks that may not be captured by my growth and technology positions. I’m comfortable letting it play that role even when the immediate monetary-policy environment is challenging.Takeaway: Gold doesn’t need every macro variable to line up perfectly. Sometimes its value is greatest when the economic signals themselves are contradictory. When inflation, rates, geopolitics and asset prices are pulling in different directions, diversification becomes the thesis.@Captain's Treasure" datetime: "2026-09-24T09:30:06.000Z" locales: - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/topics/100000000912421.md) - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/topics/100000000912421.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/topics/100000000912421.md) author: "[Heroic Lifesaver](https://longbridge.com/en/profiles/21630362.md)" generator: "portal-rs" --- # $SPDR Gold Shares(GLD.US)Post 4 of Episode 23Updat… ### Related Stocks - [GLD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GLD.US.md) - [02840.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/02840.HK.md) - [1326.JP](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/1326.JP.md) ## Comments (4) - **dingdongbell · 2026-09-25T11:42:55.000Z · 👍 1**: Nice! I have gold too but rather than convert to USD, I prefer to keep it simple and use SGD. Glad there is $GLD SG(GSD.SG). Less liquidity but am not really trading it so that is good with me! - **Heroic Lifesaver** (2026-09-25T11:46:19.000Z): Gold is an important proxy to cash. Hence why countries store them as part of their reserves. 😁 - **Fantastic · 2026-09-24T11:09:14.000Z**: holding it as ballast carries a real cost, no yield plus the sponsor fee, and there is a cheaper share class tracking the same bullion if the position is long term. - **Heroic Lifesaver** (2026-09-24T11:16:43.000Z): Are you referring to $Veck Merk GLD(OUNZ.US)? --- > **Disclaimer: This article is for reference only and does not constitute any investment advice.**
