description: "$Amova-StraitsTrdg Asia REIT(CFA.SG)Context: Asian Reit funds have faced persistent headwinds due to inflation and current situation where US Fed Reserve has increased interest rate and incline to further increase the interest rate this year and next year. My trade: I opened a position near the $0.76 support zone and exited in tranches near the peak around $0.822. So in my case I am fortunate to take profits near the top to capture capital gains before the broader market pullback. Takeaway:Locking in capital gains and taking profit periodically can be good to protect gains in a volatile market. However no one can predict the top and bottom and the position size will reduce if keep taking profits.Reit ETF prices are under pressure in this interest rate sensitive environment, however, at current prices, it can be worthwhile to have a look to re-enter and build a position for longer term investment if dividend income is part of the investment goal."

- **imJanice · 2026-09-29T08:42:17.000Z**: on an income fund the exit timing costs you the accrued distribution too, so a round trip has to clear the payout you stepped out of, not just the spread.
  - **JPJP** (2026-09-29T10:30:11.000Z): Yes you are right. I received only the capital gains of 12%, not the dividend payout which I missed out after closing the position.
