I bought $UOB(U11.SG)at S$41.70 on 13 August 2026. After buying, I noticed that the share price experienced several fluctuations, which made me concerned that the price might fall again. Although the stock had moved in my favour, I decided to lock in my gains rather than continue holding.
I sold my UOB shares at S$43.11 on 22 September 2026, making a profit of S$1.41 per share。At the time, I felt that taking profit was a reasonable decision. However, I later regretted selling because UOB continued to trade at higher levels afterwards.
My biggest lesson from this trade is that short-term price fluctuations do not necessarily mean that it is the right time to sell.
Looking back, I became too focused on the price movements after my purchase and reacted to the volatility by taking profit early. While I still made a positive return, I missed the opportunity to participate in the subsequent upward movement.
