## 📊 Quick Recap — What Moved & Why

### 🇺🇸 US — Memory Gets Its Follow-Through

**🔑 Key Event:** On the call, Micron said over 75% of 2027 output is committed, customer prepayment commitments rose to **$32B**, and it will return 100% of excess cash, stepping up buybacks from Dec 9. Day two delivered: $Micron Tech(MU.US) **+3.0%**, $SK Hynix(SKHY.US) **+5.1%**, $Sandisk(SNDK.US) **+2.7%**.

> @Powerhouse**:** Money has been pumped into tech first for MSFT then META and likely next will be SanDisk and micron.

**👀 Other to Watch**

- **Treasuries** → the 10-year touched its highest since 2002, then fell back to **5.24%** after Fed Vice Chair Jefferson said the Fed can take more time. October hike odds are now roughly one in four.
- **Indices** → S&P 500 **+0.2%**, Nasdaq **+0.04%**, Dow **+0.04%**.
- $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) → **+1.1%** to $230.86, riding the memory read-through.
- **Anthropic** → targets a mid-November IPO at a $1.8T to $2T valuation; the timeline could still shift.

### 🇸🇬 Singapore — SGX Drags, Banks Hold

**🔑 Key Event:** STI is about **-0.3%** this morning near 5,651. SGX is down about **-6.2%** and is the index's heaviest drag, with no company announcement behind the move so far. It had just signed an MOU with Vietnam's exchange to study a depositary receipt link.

> @NewUser\_CkrdqW **:** Banks are still carrying the index, could we see a $80 DBS by the end of October?

**👀 Other to Watch**

- $UOB(U11.SG) → Macquarie says it gains most from higher Singdollar rates, with 43% of loans in SGD, and sees 12% upside vs 5% for $DBS(D05.SG) and $OCBC Bank(O39.SG). RHB lifted its OCBC target to S$33.70.
- **S-REITs** → slipping again as yields stay high: $CapLand Ascendas REIT(A17U.SG) about **-1.3%**, $Keppel DC Reit(AJBU.SG) about **-1.4%**.
- $Avalon(AWX.US) → up about **+1.8%** after **+3.8%** on Thursday, as Micron's call lifts chip testers.

### 🇭🇰 HK/China — Holiday Catch-Up Selloff

**🔑 Key Event:** Hong Kong reopened after National Day and is down about **-2.7%**, after missing Thursday's bond rout and oil spike. Xiaomi **-4.8%**, Alibaba **-2.3%**, Tencent **-2.0%**, BYD **-2.2%**.

**👀 Other to Watch**

- $TENCENT(00700.HK) → reportedly leasing about 100,000 AI chips across Oracle data centres in Southeast Asia, a five-year deal worth about US$7B.

### 🌍 Other to Watch

- 🛢️ Brent rose more than $4 Thursday to above **$102** after China held back fuel exports over Golden Week. The US is reportedly sending a third carrier to the Middle East, and Trump said Iran will "either sign a very fair deal, or they won't exist any longer".

> @Darkwinter**:** PCE… inflation risk of the past. Oil… inflation risk of the future

- **ynwa · 2026-10-02T15:41:35.000Z**: NFP showed weaker job numbers than anticipated, which reversed expectations of near term Fed rate hikes. Markets are no longer pricing in one more rate hike by end of year. This should give some relief at the short end of the curve and has led to a broad rally since the data was released
- **NewUser_hCn26 · 2026-10-02T14:29:47.000Z**: Micron’s forward commitments confirm structural AI memory tightness, keeping semiconductor momentum intact despite 10-year yield spikes. Meanwhile, the steep 6% SGX pullback presents a compelling entry into resilient Singapore banks ahead of U.S. non-farm payrolls—offering attractive dividend yields
- **NewUser_zS0M8w · 2026-10-02T13:55:41.000Z**: Job reports are out, with the labour market faltering in September with a lower increase in jobs by just 29,000, well below the forecast of 84,000. With a lower than expected growth, concerns over inflation eases slightly and rate hike probability hence drops further for October, albeit likely to ha

- **NewUser_oPJWOU · 2026-10-02T12:01:14.000Z**: Just bought some more Reits today at a bargain price. Could it drop some more? Absolutely. Bond yields are still skyrocketing which is one of the major factors in play. However, I'm accumulating Reits for dividend play in the long term, and dividing my capital for a few different price range to bett
- **LazyCat · 2026-10-02T09:43:34.000Z**: today 2 STI components slid a flights of stairs and bruised many a unit holder - DFIRG -8.82% & -7.16%. Among them, SGX's fall is really painful to see, falling from 25.69 ATH since late Aug with 2 vertical drops on 14 Sep and today. There are no negative catalysts and it seems risk-off profit t

- **FaithAnchor · 2026-10-02T08:34:05.000Z · 👍 1**: $SGX(S68.SG)SGX (S68) drops 6% despite its Vietnam MOU. Is the market losing patience with the growth story, or simply taking profits? Regional expansion sounds promising, but investors want earnings, not just headlines.
- **melph · 2026-10-02T07:52:21.000Z**: MU’s AI-driven memory demand is impressive, especially with HBM but I don’t see the earnings profile as sustainable enough for me to own it long term. Memory remains highly cyclical and today’s strong pricing and margins could change quickly when supply catches up. Would rather own businesses with m

- **dingdongbell · 2026-10-02T06:01:38.000Z · 👍 1**: I like the way the market shrugs off the bears and keep moving up into a seasonally bullish period as well as the US midterms which have historically provide a year end rally into clarity.
- **Heroic Lifesaver · 2026-10-02T05:59:51.000Z · 👍 2**: The market keeps marching onwards despite almost everyone being bearish. That is ironically bullish. If jobs data is not as strong as expected, the market might take that as a green sign to rally. I am cautiously bullish.
- **NewUser_CkrdqW · 2026-10-02T05:47:50.000Z · 👍 1**: More opportunities for DCA reits investors as the struggle continues amidst a weaker week for the banks & broader STI Index as well. Tonight's job report is going to be a strong signal for FED'S position moving forward as well.

- **Shyon · 2026-10-02T04:58:30.000Z · 👍 1**: For me, I am more interested in the memory trade than SG banks right now. $Micron Tech(MU.US) saying more than 75% of its 2027 output is already committed gives me more confidence that the memory cycle is being supported by real AI infrastructure demand, rather than just short-term excitement.
