$Lion-phillip S-Reit(CLR.SG)
Context:
I noticed that S-REIT prices had declined and saw the pullback as an opportunity to gradually build my position at a lower price. Since I was already interested in S-REITs for their potential distribution income and longer-term exposure to real estate, I viewed the price decline as an opportunity to average down rather than react to the short-term market movement. My thinking was that if the underlying investment thesis remained unchanged, buying at a lower price could potentially improve my average entry price over time.
My trade:
I added to my S-REIT position because the price had dropped and I wanted to DCA into the investment rather than invest a large amount at once. I chose to add a manageable amount so that I could continue building my position gradually if prices remained attractive. My main reason for adding was to lower my average cost while maintaining my longer-term view on the sector, rather than trying to predict when the price would reach its lowest point.
Takeaway:
Next time, I would assess whether the price drop was caused by broader market conditions or a deterioration in the REIT's fundamentals before deciding to DCA, and I would set clearer rules for how much and when to add.
