# 🎁[Reward] Warsh’s AI Optimism Cools Hike Bets as Falling Yields Revive Theme Trades

- Odds of an October hike fell below 15% after Warsh spoke, from about 27% before
- Long-end Treasury yields fell faster than short-end yields as money sought safety in long bonds
- Small caps and equal-weight indexes beat the S&P 500

Traders cut bets on a Fed hike at the late-October meeting after Chair Kevin Warsh said, “AI is the most profound transformation of the economy I’ve seen in my lifetime.” Before his remarks, the implied odds were about 27%. After, they fell below 15%.

Rising Treasury yields alone don’t raise the market’s ceiling. What does is the point when yields turn.

*Chart: Warsh avoided hawkish rhetoric and didn’t take a hard line on rate hikes*

**AI themes stand to gain:**

$Roundhill Photonics & Optics ETF(LYTE.US)

$VanEck Semiconductor ETF(SMH.US)

$Invesco QQQ Trust(QQQ.US)

- Philly Semiconductor Index down seven straight sessions, wiping out the earlier sentiment premium and leverage.
- U.S. stock and options volume has picked up noticeably. SPY and QQQ implied volatility has rebounded from year lows.
- Bond yields are falling. Long-end yields fell more than short-end, showing safe-haven money went mostly into long-dated bonds. Yields had stayed high for a month; the tech selloff finally pushed them down.

Chart: The 30-year Treasury yield has been falling since Oct. 7

- **rickcapital · 2026-10-18T15:55:10.000Z**: Warsh seems sharp, doesn’t just listen blindly to Trump even though he had market convinced to was “Trump’s guy” at the start. Believe we will make the right move
- **tangnos · 2026-10-18T15:49:43.000Z**: I think gold and silver would be good now as they are sensitive to real yields. if real yields come down, then it is beneficial to non yielding assets like precious metals.
- **dxnkyq · 2026-10-18T15:49:35.000Z**: wow what an insightful post
- **erickhoosg · 2026-10-18T15:42:58.000Z**: we all gonna make it ❤️
- ** Moon · 2026-10-18T15:20:03.000Z**: Price stability must remain the Federal Reserve's top priority. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's data-driven, cautious approach avoids premature commitments, balancing inflation control with economic growth to protect financial markets and businesses.
- **LazyCat · 2026-10-18T15:15:38.000Z**: I would go with the theme of market breath is improvingn since small caps and equal-weight indexes beat the S&P now. Since the long dated yields are falling and the AI trade is still alive, albeit with rotation from capex to monetisation, this may be the opportunity to accumulate before the coil
- **Victor y · 2026-10-18T14:54:08.000Z**: Rate hike

- **NewUser_xgC · 2026-10-18T13:36:39.000Z**: Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's dovish remarks on artificial intelligence caused the implied odds of an October rate hike to drop from roughly 27% to below 15%.- Falling Treasury yields, particularly for long-term bonds, helped alleviate pressure on sectors like consumer discretionary and spurre
- **Yuan83 · 2026-10-18T12:41:24.000Z**: I think market is due to a further downside move after the huge rally. Warsh’s comments is just a reason for market to come down. SPX to 7200 or so should be probable. Let’s see
- **win win · 2026-10-18T11:52:13.000Z**: rate hike odd down
