# Bitcoin hits new high: Trump hints at strategic reserves, Australian pension funds enter the market

Bitcoin today refreshed its historical high, which is partly attributed to the remarks made by the U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, who previously stated that he plans to establish a U.S. Bitcoin strategic reserve similar to its Strategic Petroleum Reserve; on the other hand, it is also noteworthy that Australian pension and wealth management company AMP Ltd has invested AUD 27 million in Bitcoin for the first time, becoming the country's first large retirement fund to purchase Bitcoin.
