The Nasdaq 100 consists of the 100 largest non-financial companies (excluding banks, insurance, etc.) listed on the Nasdaq exchange.
Companies listed on the Nasdaq exchange include not only U.S. firms but also enterprises from other countries, including those from our nation. You can think of the Nasdaq 100 as a global top 100 non-financial ETF, representing the cutting-edge productivity of humanity, while the S&P 500 is a top 500 U.S. companies index (including financials).
"Believe in national fortune, invest in the Nasdaq" should actually be "Believe in national fortune, invest in the S&P; believe in global fortune, invest in the Nasdaq."
The price trends of the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 are roughly similar because U.S. companies account for a large proportion of the Nasdaq 100, especially the well-known "Magnificent Seven."
Unless humanity is doomed, the Nasdaq index will rise with human progress.
