Men have basically accepted housing as the biggest "consumption downgrade":

A new apartment in a county town costs 1.5 million, in a provincial capital 3 million, and in a first-tier city 7 million. Moreover, after buying it, it will continue to depreciate endlessly until it's worth nothing—so it's fine not to buy a house in this lifetime.

Women basically still can't wrap their heads around it:

How can I tolerate such a great humiliation if I don't have a new apartment in a county town/provincial capital/first-tier city for marriage?

If we don't buy a 300,000 wedding car for marriage, how can the whole family hold their heads up?

If other people in the same village have bride prices of 300,000, 500,000, or 800,000 for marriage, and my partner's family can't afford this money, wouldn't that be the biggest stain of my life?
