2\. If you're looking for a get-rich-quick investment strategy, this book is not for you. Leave the business of offering overnight fortune-making schemes to the charlatans and con artists. If you believe them, you'll only get poor quickly. To get rich, you have to do it slowly, and you have to start now.

3\. The only thing worse than dying is being alive and having run out of money you saved for retirement.

4\. Life is a risky proposition, and everyone will face unexpected expenses at some point in their lives.

5\. Cash set aside for any known future expense should be invested in safe financial instruments whose maturity dates match the dates when the funds will be needed.
