Lumentum plans to commence mass production of UHP lasers in early 2028, which is expected to unlock an annualized revenue capacity of $5 billion, forming the core capacity foundation supporting the company's long-term growth. According to property documents from Guilford County, Lumentum acquired Qorvo's integrated facility and two land parcels at 7908 Piedmont Triad Parkway for a total of $18 million, and disclosed the acquisition and its plans for the site at the OFC event. Lumentum has recently achieved several important milestones: receiving a strategic investment from NVIDIA and announcing its inclusion in the S&P 500 index. It is understood that the seller, Qorvo, is headquartered in Greensboro and is a key component supplier for end manufacturers like Apple and Samsung. The company had previously announced plans to close its Greensboro wafer fabrication facility in North Carolina and transfer capacity to a facility near Dallas, as part of a strategic shift towards higher-margin markets such as defense and aerospace.
