## The 2.5% market drop is mainly pricing in the uncertainty of the successor

It's not about fundamentals, it's the premium for successor uncertainty.

During Cook's tenure, Apple's strategic execution and supply chain management capabilities were evident to all. The market is worried whether the successor can continue this successful model.

Historical reference: When Nadella succeeded Ballmer, Microsoft fell about 3% short-term before rebounding quickly; when Bezos stepped down from Amazon, the market reaction was mild, falling only about 1%. The common point in both cases is—after the successor was announced, the uncertainty was eliminated, and the stock price stabilized.

Apple's current PE is about 28x, with limited buffer room. The market is likely to remain in a wait-and-see mode until the successor is announced.

## Two scenarios

**Internal succession (COO/VP level)**: Strong continuity, high market acceptance. Support level in the $160-163 range, potentially returning above $170 after digestion.

**External hire**: Strategic uncertainty intensifies. The $155-158 range is the next key support level, with greater short-term volatility.

The successor candidate is currently the only key variable.

In any case, Cook's departure marks the end of an era for Apple, and the market needs time to digest this change.
