# OpenAI delays the release of GPT-5 due to computing power bottlenecks and seeks breakthroughs in collaborative chip development

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman revealed on Thursday that the company is unable to launch new products at the expected frequency due to limitations in computing power. He explained that as AI models become increasingly complex, the company struggles to manage multiple projects simultaneously, particularly facing challenges in resource allocation.

It is understood that the Microsoft-backed company is currently collaborating with Broadcom and TSMC to design its own chips to address the issue of insufficient computing power. Altman confirmed that OpenAI will not release the next large AI model GPT-5 this year, but plans to launch some "very good versions" later.

OpenAI's Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil emphasized that before pushing for the next major upgrade of the video model Sora, the company needs to refine the model to ensure safety, accuracy in simulation and other aspects, and to scale up computing resources.

Additionally, Altman added that there are currently no plans to release the company's image model DALL-E, and the next model will be "worth the wait." OpenAI also denied plans to release an AI model codenamed Orion this year.

With the launch of the "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit and the new search feature for ChatGPT, OpenAI has strengthened its competition with Alphabet's Google.

Regarding the recent series of executive departures, Vice President of Engineering Srinivas Narayanan stated that while he regrets losing some partners, the company still has a talented team and has welcomed many new members
