# China Chain Store & Franchise Association: Over half of chain supermarkets expect an increase in customer numbers in 2024

According to the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, a recent survey of over 10,000 stores from 47 supermarkets across the country revealed that more than half of the chain supermarket industry expects an increase in customer numbers in 2024. Three-quarters of supermarket companies have made adjustments and achieved business growth. Specifically, 51.1% of the physical stores surveyed reported a year-on-year increase in customer numbers. In terms of online business, 48.9% of supermarket companies experienced year-on-year growth in online sales, with 30% of these companies maintaining a high growth rate of over 20%. The supermarkets with high growth are mainly concentrated in second and third-tier markets where supermarket companies are undergoing transformation
