# In 2024, the safety situation of special equipment in China continues to stabilize and improve

The latest statistics from the State Administration for Market Regulation show that by the end of 2024, the total number of special equipment in the country reached 22.991 million units, an increase of 7.99% compared to 2023. Additionally, there are 1.0496 million kilometers of pressure pipelines and 318 million gas cylinders. The safety situation of special equipment continues to stabilize and improve: in 2024, through the in-depth implementation of the elevator safety foundation action, 68,000 illegal elevators in use were identified and rectified; 28,000 potential safety hazards related to gas pressure pipelines and pressure vessels were discovered, with 27,000 items completed for rectification, and control measures have been implemented for unresolved issues; furthermore, a national pressure pipeline inspection information management system has been established, completing the information entry for 608,000 kilometers of gas pressure pipelines and 164,000 kilometers of long-distance pipelines
