Six departments issued a document: By 2035, the natural forest protection and restoration system will be basically sound

Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and other six departments jointly issued the "Medium and Long-term Plan for the Protection and Restoration of Natural Forests." The plan proposes that by 2035, the system for the protection and restoration of natural forests will be basically sound, the area of natural forests will be maintained at around 2.58 billion acres, the quality will achieve fundamental improvement, and the natural forest ecosystem will be healthy, stable, and functionally complete. The plan clarifies that integrated management and protection will be implemented for all natural forests and non-natural public welfare forests, with comprehensive responsibility for management and protection being fully implemented, continuously enhancing management and protection capabilities, covering an area of 3.235 billion acres; comprehensive measures such as nurturing, transformation, and promoting renewal will be taken for systematic restoration, focusing on the 401 million acres of forests that urgently need quality improvement; continuously optimizing the livelihood guarantee mechanism in forest areas, ensuring the basic livelihood bottom line for employees of state-owned forestry units, promoting green development in forest areas, and strengthening infrastructure construction in forest areas
