Chinese scientists successfully developed a new germplasm of coenzyme Q10 rice
On February 14th, Jin10 Data reported that coenzyme Q10, known as "the body's generator," can drive human cells to produce energy. It is included in the "Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China" and is also a widely used dietary supplement. Chinese scientists have successfully created the world's first synthetic coenzyme Q10 rice germplasm through gene editing technology. On February 14th, the international authoritative journal "Cell" published a related research paper. This research was completed in collaboration with the team of Academician Chen Xiaoya from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the team of Gao Caixia from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Industry experts believe that the successful development of coenzyme Q10 rice will greatly enrich the food sources of coenzyme Q10 and is of great significance for cultivating rice into a high-nutrition crop in the future
