
Mexican President writes to Trump: Reiterates that imposing steel and aluminum tariffs on Mexico harms U.S. interests
On February 14th, Mexican President López Obrador stated that he had written to U.S. President Trump, indicating that the letter included charts showing the trade surplus data between the U.S. and Mexico in steel and aluminum, which shows that the U.S. is in a surplus position with Mexico; therefore, imposing a 25% tariff on Mexican steel and aluminum is not in the interest of the United States
