# Guotai Junan Securities: The window for the industrialization of embodied intelligent robots in vertical fields has arrived, optimistic about application opportunities in industries such as clothing

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, Guojin Securities released a research report stating that as the maturity of robot "brains" improves and the pain points in vertical fields such as data, reasoning, and control are gradually resolved, embodied intelligence is entering a critical period for industrialization. They are optimistic about the application opportunities of embodied intelligent robots in vertical fields, especially in industries such as clothing, health care, and logistics, and recommend paying attention to JACK (603337.SH), HCNC (300161.SZ), and Orbbec (688322.SH).

## The main points of Guojin Securities are as follows:

**Why is embodied intelligent robots in vertical fields favored now?**

The maturity of the "brain" is gradually improving, laying the foundation for the implementation of embodied intelligence: The main functions of the robot "brain" include real-time interaction, multimodal perception, autonomous reliable decision-making, emergence, and generalization. The industry is transitioning from the most basic LLM (Large Language Model) + VFM (Visual Foundation Model) to VLM (Visual Language Model) multimodal models, and further adding motion control to achieve VLA (Visual Language Action Model). In recent years, research in target detection, 3D language mapping, object representation, strategy learning, and task planning has made rapid progress, significantly enhancing the perception, decision-making, and control capabilities of robots, thus laying the foundation for the implementation of embodied intelligence.

The issues of lack of data, slow reasoning, and difficult control in vertical fields are expected to be resolved, accelerating industrialization: Current general-purpose robots are still some distance from mature industrial applications, influenced by various factors such as limited real machine data, long reasoning times for large models, and high difficulty in motion control. To solve these problems, the firm believes that breakthroughs should be targeted at specific vertical field scenarios, with data being jointly developed through supply chains, robot companies, users, and governments to achieve a zero-to-one breakthrough in scenarios. By deploying robots, the amount of real machine data can be increased, accelerating the realization of the "data flywheel"; the reasoning time issue can be addressed by optimizing smaller vertical field models that fit the application needs while matching edge computing power. At the same time, the firm believes that there is no need to pursue humanoid forms; upper-limb embodied intelligent workstations and wheeled robots also have good application prospects, as their motion control algorithms are more mature and easier to realize industrialization.

**Which scenarios have great prospects?**

**Potential scenario exploration ideas:** On one hand, the firm believes that the lower the penetration rate of industrial robots, the greater the future application prospects, as industrial robots have completed the automation upgrade of standardized industries, while the remaining industries with higher flexibility need to utilize the generalization capabilities of large models to achieve automation. For example, industries such as plastic chemicals, food processing, and home appliances have many processes where the maturity of industrial robot applications is low; on the other hand, they believe that the perspective of "labor shortage" can be considered, as the difficulty in recruiting workers is the most direct pain point for end users. Industries such as restaurants, housekeeping, logistics, elderly care, and clothing have good application prospects for embodied intelligent robots.

**Clothing:** The clothing industry is a typical labor-intensive industry, especially in the sewing process, which mainly relies on manual labor and is difficult to automate due to the high flexibility of fabric handling that cannot be completed by industrial robots. However, overall, the large models and sensors for fabric handling have reached a certain level of maturity. The 1X world model has the capability to simulate long-term tasks for fabric folding, the FLIP framework can generate long-term planning solutions for fabric folding tasks, and the SSFold method can fold fabrics that have not been seen before The Pacini agile hand sensor can identify different fabric materials. At the same time, leading sewing machinery company JACK has partnered with several universities to tackle the development of clothing robots, which is expected to accelerate the development of vertical robots in the apparel industry.

**Health and Wellness:** The bank believes that health and wellness scenarios are the optimal transitional scenes for embodied intelligent robots to ultimately achieve home applications. The downstream faces the pain point of "difficulty in recruitment," while the industry currently shows a certain level of maturity in handling common tasks such as hardware and item delivery, as well as patient mobility. Overseas, 1X is actively developing home robots, with its large model performance continuously improving. Domestically, more and more companies such as Fourier, UBTECH, and Yijiahe are entering this track, which is expected to accelerate product maturity. At the same time, two departments have issued documents supporting the pilot application of robots in scenarios such as homes, communities, and elderly care institutions, and policy support is also expected to help the industry achieve a critical breakthrough from zero to one.

**Logistics:** After years of automation upgrades, the logistics industry has achieved a high level of automation in warehousing, conveying, and sorting. However, some labor-intensive tasks, such as deconsolidation picking, still rely mainly on manual labor and have a high degree of flexibility. In the future, embodied intelligent robots are expected to fill this gap and integrate into existing automation systems. Currently, global logistics giant GXO is collaborating with several robotics companies to explore applications, among which Digit has already achieved commercial operation, and the performance of the Figure Helix model has rapidly improved after being applied in the logistics industry, demonstrating significant growth potential. With the joint efforts of end users, logistics equipment companies, and robotics companies, the logistics industry is expected to become a "hot" scene.

**Risk Warning**

The development of large model technology for robots may not meet expectations, and policy support may fall short of expectations
