Shangda: The company GH3535 alloy assists in the development project of key equipment and technology for thorium-based molten salt reactors
According to Shangda's news, on November 1st, the thorium-based molten salt experimental reactor led by the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, achieved the conversion of thorium-uranium nuclear fuel for the first time. The GH3535 alloy developed and produced by Shangda supports the key equipment and technology development project for the thorium-based molten salt reactor, injecting "hardcore" material strength into China's fourth-generation nuclear energy technology efforts, achieving a "leapfrog" in the nuclear power field. Shangda is fully involved in the research and development of the thorium-based molten salt reactor, from small batch research, trial production, and verification at the tens of kilograms level, to winning the bid in October 2025 for the "GH3535 alloy material procurement project for the key equipment and technology development project of the thorium-based molten salt reactor at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences," achieving industrial mass production and becoming one of the core suppliers of key materials for the thorium-based molten salt reactor
