Meituan: All Meituan riders participating in social security contributions nationwide will gradually receive cash subsidies
Meituan-W (03690.HK) announced that starting in December, under the guidance and support of relevant departments across the country, all Meituan riders participating in social security contributions will gradually receive cash subsidies.
In November, Meituan's pension insurance subsidy officially covered the entire country, marking the first social security subsidy program open to all riders. The program is based on the principles of "more flexibility and inclusiveness." Whether riders are long-term stable couriers or transitioning part-time workers, as long as they have had three months of income reaching the local social security contribution base minimum within the past six months, the platform will subsidize 50% of the pension insurance contribution costs, achieving "everyone can participate, everyone can benefit."
In addition to pension insurance, the platform is continuously improving the scope of protection and expanding the types of insurance. In 2022, Meituan took the lead in participating in the pilot program for occupational injury protection for new employment forms (New Occupational Injury), and with guidance from the human resources and social security departments, it has expanded to 17 provinces and cities nationwide as of July this year.
As of October, Meituan has fully paid over 2.3 billion RMB in new occupational injury insurance premiums for riders, with nearly 16 million riders insured. To ensure that riders across the country fully understand Meituan's welfare protection measures, Meituan has set up over 600 social security consultation service windows for riders in various locations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hunan, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Liaoning, and Fujian, to answer riders' questions and collect feedback and suggestions
