The indexes finished Friday's trading session in the red.The government's nonfarm payrolls report for November is out on Tuesday, while the consumer price index for the same month posts on Thursday. November's personal income and outlays report, which includes the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation metric, is scheduled to be released on Friday.Last week, the Federal Reserve delivered a third consecutive 25-basis-point interest rate cut amid continued concerns about the labor market. Policymakers reiterated their median rate expectations through 2028.Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee and his Kansas City counterpart, Jeffrey Schmid, said Friday that they dissented from a majority on the Federal Open Market Committee on last week's rate cut due to inflation risks. Goolsbee and Schmid voted in favor of leaving interest rates steady.Separately, Philadelphia Fed President Anna Paulson said Friday that she expects inflation to ease in 2026, as tariffs-linked price pressures on goods are expected to disappear by the middle of next year.Treasury yields were down in premarket action, with the two-year rate retreating 2.1 basis points to 3.51% and the 10-year rate off 3.5 basis points to 4.16%.Monday's economic calendar has the Empire State manufacturing index for December at 8:30 am ET, followed by the housing market index for the same month at 10 am.
